"Blake-Pearl_Lucille_Lillie_Lorene_Son_with_grandkids_abt_1956.jpg" is one of the few photos where we have 5 or more of Joseph Blake & Lillie Smith's children. 

Oney died in 1942, Earnest in 1953, Myrtle died by 1957, and Rufus was living in Kentucky and rarely appeared in family photos. 

Although Kirby, better known as "Cotton", was not in this group photo, he appeared in others. 

Joseph was never called by that name.  He was "Son" growing up and was called that by both his parents and siblings.  Thus, he became "Uncle Son" to all his nieces and nephews and their children. 

The children in this photo are (L to R) Judy & Donnie Abels (children of Tincy, grandchildren of Oney Blake), Mike Parks (son of Lorene Blake), and Jimmy King, son of Betty Vest, grandson of Lucille Blake).
