July 1978 - Vincent Family Reunion

According to the date printed on the back of the photos, they were all developed 
in July 1978.  Susie and I both kept a journal that year but neither of us were 
very faithful at writing in them.  We would both go for months without writing a 
thing then try and catch up later.

As of today's date, I can recall only that I corresponded with Gerry Vincent Maple 
prior to the reunion.  I had also corresponded with James Alfred Vincent prior to 
corresponding with Gerry.  He found me while doing family research and either 
looked up Aunt Evelyn (who lived next door) or found my name listed at some family 
search center or library.  I don't know which.  James was the younger brother of 
Clarence Vincent who knew Evelyn quite well from back when John and Evelyn Vincent 
Farris lived in Mobile, Alabama during WWII.

Clarence had probably given his brother James Alfred Vincent, Evelyn's address and 
phone number.  Gerry Vincent Maple probably "discovered" my name and address while 
doing family research since my name and address were on file with the Genealogy 
Deparment of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Gerry Vincent Maple and James Alfred Vincent were my father's 1st cousins.  She 
descended from Elmer Vincent and he descended from Alvin Vincent both brothers of 
my grandfather Oakley Vincent.  After we exchanged our addresses, etc., I 
corresponded with them both.  My dad and mom were both interested in family research 
so I shared my correspondence with them.

Dad and his twin brother Bill planned a family reunion with the help of their sister 
Celia Vincent Bass at Central Park near Celia's home close to the West End of 
Birmingham.  Gerry and her Sister Ruby* came out from California and James Alfred came 
up from Mississippi to join their cousins, the children of Oakley, around the Birmingham, 
Alabama area.

 Ora Vincent.
