This page is still a work in progress. For now I will only share a little about Louisa's family. She married Francis Marion Bledsoe (1833-1865), a wealthy Alabama planter. Sadly, he was killed in the Civil War. Louisa was not yet 30 years old when forced to raise her two daughters, Leona and Cora, alone. She remained a Civil War widow for the rest of her life. Her oldest daughter, Leona, married Richard Bussey Kelly, Sr. They had 9 children, 3 daughters (Marion, Maud, and Louisa) and 6 sons (James, George, John, Richard, Bledsoe, and Milner). Only 5 of them reached adulthood. 3 of Leona Bledsoe's children (Marion, Maud, and Richard Kelly) are particularly important to our family research. They and their descendants are responsible for collecting and preserving most of the vast amount of information we know about our Vincent, Pace, and Bussey lines. Furthermore, my great-grandfather, Aaron Vincent (1835-1901) was especialy close to his kid sister, Louisa Catherine Vincent. That story remains to be fully documented which is a task for a later date. For now, I need to mention Marion Kelly and Maud Kelly. Maud has a page at my VincentFamily lineage site. CLICK HERE to view it. Maud's papers weight more than a ton when she donated them to the Samford University Library. Marion Kelly passed down her vast collection to her daughter Sarah Bullock who sent the entire collection to Salt Lake City, UT to be microfilmed. According to them, there were 26,000 pages. CLICK HERE to read more about the collection and where you can go to view the microfilms. Richard Kelly assisted Maud on occasions as she labored in her research efforts. On one occasion he accompanied Maud and my grandparents to mark the grave of Louisa Vincent's father, John Vincent (1787-1871). Richard's granddaughter, Caroline, is avid researcher who has donated many hours of research trying to digitize and document this family's collections online at various websites such as Ancestry.com and our personal website VincentFamily.org. I dedicated a page on that website to Caroline. CLICK HERE to view it. This page will be revised in the future when much more will be added so be sure and click your "refresh" icon each time you visit to view the latest updates. Please email me if you want to know more or check back later. Thanks! . |
