The relationship between George and Mary Tyner Smith is proven beyond doubt. We have also proven by yDNA testing that George's male descendants (who bear the Smith surname) are from the same Smith lineage as Jesse's. yDNA test results show that George is Jesse's father, uncle, cousin, grandfather, or another close male relative. HOWEVER, we have not yet found sources that tell us exactly what their relationship is. We are assuming George is Jesse's father until proven otherwise. Further research is needed but it took us half a century of traditional genealogical research and the discover of yDNA testing to find out this much.
