Susie's father was Howard Hollis "Coot" Little (1928-2011). His father was Audie Lee Little (1906-1993). I do not know much about Audie's family but you can find out more by contacting living relatives. Shortly after Coot's death, I created a tribute page for him. CLICK HERE to view that page. Coot was baptized by John Archie Acker, Sr. as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Christmas Day, 1977, almost 8 years after his oldest daughter Susie joined the church. Three months after Susie died, he wrote his testimony on a paper given to my grandson, Joseph Arnold. Joe is the oldest son of my oldest daughter, JoAnna. CLICK HERE to view Coot's testimony. One thing Coot noticed the year Susie and I joined our church was how Christlike the members were. Their kindness and charity towards us when we were in need really impressed him. The story of how Susie first learned about "Audrey's Yeast Rolls" tells of that Christlike charity. CLICK HERE for a printable copy of that story. Below is a 2002 photo of Coot, Dot, and their 4 children: Susie, Sandy, Jody, and Mike Little Beginning the summer of 2001, we began having an annual Cousin Camp for our children, grandchildren, and their cousins with an open invitation for other relatives and friends to join us. The theme for Cousin Camp in 2003 was "I'm a Little Monkey in Our Family Tree." We invited each of our children's grandparents and grandparents of some other in attendence to write a brief history to share with them. Here are two stories that Coot shared: Coot's parents were Audie Lee Little (1906-1993) and Mildred Vera Prince (1907-1993). He had no sisters and his only brother was Harley Eugene "Pat" Little (1930-2010). Pat and his wife, Katherine Euliala Self, had 4 children: Kathy Denise Little, Kelly Eugene Little, Lee Ann Little, and Candace Faye Little. These are the names of Susie's 1st cousins on her father's side. I hope my children get to know these people and their descendants. I hope they figure out how to avoid losing track of their mother's relatives. Since this is the "Little" page, my children and grandchildren need to learn about Coot's father, Audie Lee Litte. Each Memorial Day his family would have a picnic at the school Coot attended in Mt. Olive, Jefferson County, Alabama. His parents, aunts, and uncles would bring tables and chairs, food and kids. My older children may recall these gatherings. After the picnic they would go to the cemetery and decorate the graves of their ancestors. In the 2003 Cousin Camp mentioned above, Coot took us to that cemetery. It was on a rainy Tuesday, April 8th, 2003, where he showed our children the graves of his parents and other relatives. The children took paper and crayons provided by their mothers and made etchings of the graves. I hope to provide more on the Littles later. In the meantime, I hope my children and grandchildren learn more about Coot Little's family, where they lived, where they went to school, where they're buried. An excellent resource is their Aunt Sandy Little Hocutt who has been researching the Little Family for many years. ~ END ~
