Payton (sometimes spelled "Peyton" or "Paton", was the 4th son and 5th child of my great-great-grandparents John and Nicey Hawes Vincent. According to research by Maud and Marion Kelly, he was born about 1819 and, sadly, was scalded to death as an infant. It sometimes happened in those days that parents re-used a name. Their very next child, born 2 years later, was a male. John and Nicey named him Payton as well. This page for my great-granduncle Payton Vincent is still a work in progress.
